Stand in Your Space

Group Coaching Programme for Women in Research & Higher Education

Root deep . Stand strong . Branch out

***New group starting early 2026***

Feeling Overwhelmed by Academia’s Demands & Craving Space to Breathe?

Stand In Your Space is a 6-week group coaching journey designed to help women in academia reclaim their clarity, courage, and balance – so you can develop an anchored sense of self and set healthy boundaries even within academia’s pressure cooker. It’s a gentle, supportive program where you’ll find breathing room to reconnect with yourself, without apology.

The most important relationship you have is with yourself – you’re the only one on your path from start to finish.

This relationship deserves taking care of, especially in a career as demanding as academia.

In Stand In Your Space, we’ll gather as a small circle of women who understand the unique challenges of university life. In this space of compassion and solidarity, you’ll find the grounding to stand confidently in your own life and build the habits that let you thrive on your own terms.

Who This Is For

Stand In Your Space is especially for you if any of these feel familiar:

  • You’re a dedicated woman in academia or professional services – perhaps a mid-career lecturer, researcher, RIDM or strategy lead – who pours her heart into her work.

  • You’re juggling everything. Teaching, admin, committees, students, maybe caregiving at home… you say “yes” to everyone who needs you, and your own research or well-being has taken a back seat.

  • You sometimes feel crushed by the academic machine. You love your work and achieve a lot, but lately it feels like H.E.’s demands are grinding you down and you’re losing touch with the you outside of your role.

  • You crave breathing room. Deep down, you long for time to finally work on that paper or simply think again – space to feel like yourself, creative and calm. You’d love to connect with other women who have found a way to “do academia differently,” setting boundaries yet still thriving.

  • Yet you hesitate to invest in yourself. Taking time for you feels impossible – maybe even a bit indulgent – when everyone else needs something. You worry about dropping a ball or seeming less committed if you pause to breathe.

If you’re nodding along, know that you’re not alone – and you are exactly who I created Stand In Your Space for. It is possible to find clarity and calm without derailing your career. This program will meet you where you are, and guide you gently toward a better balance.

“I found the course incredibly helpful. It gave me a voice through a very difficult time and I don’t know what I’d have done without it.

Bryony has helped me see myself, accept myself… It’s helped change my entire mindset.”

Stand In Your Space

This is my coaching programme for women working for a better world through their work in universities.

It’s built on tools and exercises that have proved deeply valuable again and again in my 1:1 coaching, and through my work with myself, on overriding overwhelm, self-doubt and unhelpful external noise, and developing a stronger sense of self-ownership, healthier boundaries, and feeling more able to prioritise wellbeing and impactful work.

I will take you through a 6-week journey to build a more anchored sense of self within the ecosystems of your life and work, so you are freed up to be you, without apology.

You will be part of a small, co-supportive group.

This is time and space for you – to own your space more, to be more courageous, to feel more comfortable in your voice, your body and your heart, to set more boundaries, to gain more autonomy, and to access more clarity and courage on a way forward that is right for you.

…When we have this, we live with more freedom, calm and flow….bringing us more joy, capacity, impact and better connection with ourselves, others, our work, and life itself.

I would love to have you join us.

What You’ll Gain

By the end of our six weeks together, you will have:

  • Renewed clarity and focus: A clearer sense of who you are and what truly matters to you, so you can prioritise your time and energy with confidence. No more constant mental fog – you’ll know what deserves your yes (and your no).

  • Healthier boundaries & balance: Practical tools to say “no” and set limits guilt-free. You’ll learn how to protect your project time, personal time, and energy without feeling like you’re letting anyone down.

  • Greater self-confidence: An anchored trust in yourself and your decisions. You’ll feel more comfortable in your own voice, body, and heart – able to stand in your space without apology and without second-guessing your worth.

  • A supportive community: The camaraderie of a small group of like-minded women in H.E. who get it. You’ll forge connections and receive encouragement from others who face similar challenges – a network you can lean on during and after the program.

What does the programme involve?

We meet once a week for six weeks via Zoom, in a small supportive group of women (spaces are limited to 6 participants per cohort to keep it intimate). Each session is 2 hours long, scheduled on Fridays as this is the day that is more commonly available for personal & personally elected professional development.

Aside from the weekly 2-hour circles, plan for a little reflection or practice between sessions – perhaps 20 minutes here and there journalling or trying a new boundary-setting exercise. This program is designed to fit into a busy academic schedule. It’s about making life feel lighter, not adding a heavy workload. Every tool is meant to integrate smoothly into your day.

Over these six weeks, we’ll explore a new theme each week that builds on the last, helping you gradually reconnect with yourself and create lasting change. Here’s our roadmap:

Root Deep

How much time and nourishment do you give to your relationship with yourself?

And how is that relationship?

For us to be confident, have healthy relationships with others, create the life we want and have a positive experience of the world, we first need to start with ourselves…

…we need to stop and greet ourselves in stillness and to connect with and remember our self-worth beyond the work we do.

This is space to overcome the challenge of simply ‘being’ when you’re constantly wearing the “professional/carer hat” and firefighting the university workload.

‘Being with yourself’ is the first element of #StandInYourSpace.

How aligned with yourself do you feel in life & work?

How easily do you find your voice, make decisions and trust yourself?

To deepen and maintain alignment with ourselves we need to remember what really matters to us – that inner compass of values, wisdom and unique energy – and get used to checking in on it regularly.

When we have this, it is so much easier to find a way forward and maintain aligment with ourselves, our intended impact, and how we want to show up in life and work.

‘Inner Compass’ is the second element of #StandInYourSpace.

Stand Strong

How much time and energy do you spend on things out of your control?

What if you were to consistently live from a place where you do have control?

It is so easy to lose a sense of agency in the busyness of university work life, get caught up in things we cannot change or to try to change things from the wrong angle. When we come back to our centre, we increase our influence and control, and so our power.

Power can be a dirty word, when used for selfish gain but the power we will work with is your unique life force – fuelled by your values, energy and wisdom-source – this is where you take responsibility and ownership for yourself.

‘Ownership’ is the third element of #StandInYourSpace.

What stops you from saying ‘no’?

How much respect do you show to yourself through your boundaries?

Owning our space is about finding balance within our boundaries. It’s about respecting ourselves, being clear to others about our boundaries and being able to say ‘no’, AND it’s about knowing which of our boundaries are flexible, and for what conditions.

Setting limits within a university setting is crucial for your wellbeing and in order to have the impact you want through your work.  Taking ownership of you will better enable you to guard your research time and your personal time without guilt, even when the work culture expects you to keep on doing more.

‘Boundaries’ is the fourth element of #StandInYourSpace.

Branch Out

How easy do you find it to connect with spaciousness within?

How much space do you give yourself in life for your own being and growth?

To enable any of these elements to flourish, we need space – space internally, and to be claiming our space.

This is about creating space in a packed schedule or a cluttered mind, for self-care or for creative pursuits that women in academia and professional services often postpone.

We need to set time aside for ourselves and to connect with and nourish the space within us. This session is spacious and gentle.

‘Space’ is the fifth element of #StandInYourSpace.

What if you actually enjoyed being you?

What would it take for you to believe the good stuff?

What would it be like to embody the woman you really are and the impact you could actually have?

This closing session of the course is where you get to embrace Standing In Your Space, wherever you are with that right now.

You’ll get to embrace it in the beautiful circle of women you have been on this journey with, celebrate each other and step forward in continual growth, self-ownership and love.

…with a new-found community of women who just know where you’re coming from.

Embracing’ is the sixth element of #StandInYourSpace.
